Open, online AI hackathons, with the parts listings skip: who gets credits, whether you can enter solo, and what the organizer takes from your code.
Most hackathons let you keep your work. Some do not. Each row below shows which of these four levels applies, once we have read the rules.
You keep the work. The sponsor may use it to judge it. Example: Postman API Hack.
The sponsor may also use your name, face and voice to promote the event, for years afterward. Example: Nebius x NVIDIA.
Your code must ship under an open-source license. Example: SANS AI Cybersecurity.
A perpetual, worldwide license to build and sell products from your submission. Example: GitLab AI Hackathon.
If you have an invention-assignment or moonlighting clause in your employment contract, check it before you enter. This is a reading aid, not legal advice.
Registered participants are not submissions. DataHub's agent hackathon had 3,066 participants and over 600 submitted projects, so the per-person figures below are a floor on your odds, not a forecast.
